My Little Water Baby

Our fun neighbors (with 4 daughters!) have all the fun outside toys you can imagine, including a swimming pool! Okay, so it's just a little plastic kiddie pool, but Kody sure does love it! Anytime there's water in it, he feels like he needs to be wet. As you can imagine, I have to be pretty quick with his swimsuit or he will just climb in fully clothed.

The big kids kept dumping water on his head so he decided to join in the fun - but they were too fast for him so he just had to get himself!

Did I mention the slip and slide? The little tadpole loved it a lot,
Even if he didn't use it the correct way!

Still Waiting...

...and the saga of the bounce house continues. I know I shouldn't be so attached to material things, I should just be happy that we are in our new home and we have our health, but this is ridiculous! Papa B called the company again today - wait, let me back up - he called last week on the day that it should have come and the guy said that the driver just quit and left his truck in the middle of the road. Thank goodness for GPS, right? Anyway, he says that now the bounce house is in their warehouse in CA and he will - get this - express it to us right away. How nice is this guy? Right, so when it doesn't come in a few days like he said we called of course. Now he says UPS won't take it because it's so big and he's waiting to hear from FEDEX and DHL. This was yesterday, so B calls again today and sure enough, the other companies won't do it either. Now the story is they put it on their own truck and it'll get here in a week. I don't know about you, but this sounds like a pile of hooey!!! I really miss that thing!

Oh Joyous Playroom!

I absolutely love the basement of our new apartment! I can put the kids in the playroom section and they entertain themselves for quite a while. I won't say hours, but they really do enjoy spending time down there. I do have to check on the little one from time to time.
The other day I left her playing with toys while I got some work done in the bedrooms, and by the time I went back down she had crawled over behind the water heater and was trying to eat a piece of carpet she found back there. At least it wasn't a dead spider or who knows what! The big one is a little better, I just get a kick out of watching him play with toys. I really wonder what is going through his head sometimes!

Fireflies

Papa Bear came home from home teaching last night and was so excited to tell me that he had caught a firefly! He had never seen one until we moved here, can you believe it? It's the little things like this that make me happy to be here.

the Grizzly truth

We have arrived! Okay, a few quick details of our recent move from San Francisco, CA to Ann Arbor, MI:

Yes, grownups can get hand-foot-and-mouth disease! We now know this from experience -- can you believe I actually missed my darling husband's graduation from dental school? Kody and I had it first, thank goodness my parents were there to do almost all of our packing, and then Brett and Mollie had it for the drive.

Don't ever trust movers. Without giving too many boring details, they were late picking our stuff up, late delivering and stole our bounce house! Okay, they say they found the bounce house and it will be coming any day now, but I'm not holding my breath. These guys have been so slimy I feel like I need a shower just writing about them! We were charged way more than they said and there wasn't much we could do about it since they had all our belongings. I guess we've learned our lesson -- if you want something done right you really do have to do it all by yourself!

It's amazing how creative you can be when you need to! Plastic crates and recycling bins make great furniture and you can cook chicken nuggets on tin foil in the oven; these are just a few of the survival skills we learned the week we were waiting for our stuff to arrive.
